I feel privileged to have seen Imelda May in such an intimate setting Saturday night at the 5 Spot. She’s huge. A sexy, Irish bombshell with dynamite vocals and style, surrounded by such a talented band – in East Nashville! They’re currently supporting Jamie Cullum in several locations throughout the U.S. and Canada, and they actually played TPAC right before their show at the 5 Spot.
Here are a few videos from the show at the 5 Spot, recorded by our digital camera so the quality isn’t great. Please also check out the numerous YouTube videos of them. And then let me know when you’ve absolutely fallen in love ♥
Almost every morning when I wake up I have a song in my head. Lately, most days I wake up with a Die Antwoord song in my head – damn those perfect beats!
Anyway, since today is 3/11, I wanted to post one of my favorite 311 songs – Hydroponic.
This song takes me way back. And it always reminds me of my girl Amy in Florida =)
“Everything I eat is from the Earth Right!” Haha! Good times.
Amy and her husband are about to buy a house! I’m so excited for them! It makes perfect sense for Amy & Iliya to buy a house – they have pets, they’re thinking of having kids, the tax credit will be nice, I’m sure property value in Florida is nice, etc.
But in my excitement, I think to myself, “Self, what is it about buying a house that is such a turn-off to you/me/us?” (What, you don’t talk to yourself? Yes you do.)
I understand the feeling of putting down roots and having stability in life. I definitely understand the freeing feeling of living in a house rather than an apartment. I understand that it is considered “The American Dream” to buy a house and get married and have kids. I also understand that each person will make their own happiness, and if buying a house or getting student loans for school is what will make you happy then I will have no objections. I guess I just don’t see the ‘value’ of ‘owning’ a home.
But, then again, I’ve always had to do things my own way and was never a follower of trends, so my unconventional viewpoint on owning a house shouldn’t be a shock to many.
Mom and I used to listen to the radio a lot and sing along in the car – it’s a toss-up between this song an Billy Squire’s “Stroke Me” that I remember most LOL! And this one reminds me of David because he always got poison ivy during tractor season, and used “an ocean of Calamine Lotion.”
