FORT MILL, SC – James Paul Becknell, Sr., 92, of 1976 New Grey Rock Road, died Friday, February 5, 2010, at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, with Dr. John Warren officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery.

A native of Fort Mill, Paul is the son of the late Claude Lee and Amanda Cline Becknell. He graduated from Fort Mill High School and was married to Nellie Miller Becknell for over 71 years. He was retired from Springs Industries as a Lab Tech and a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a Mason and a member of the Catawba Lodge 56 in Fort Mill for over 67 years. Paul was also a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie Miller Becknell; three sons, Buddy Becknell (Jo Ann), Ronald Becknell (Lydia), and David Becknell; one daughter, Georgia Kidd (Carroll); 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Masonic services will be at 2:40 P.M. Sunday at the church with a visitation to follow from 3-5 P.M.
